Our latest update ensures a smooth transition to the new upper secondary school reform, regardless of which grading system a student uses.

The 2025 upper secondary school reform (GY25) is here, and with it come major changes such as subject grades, new course codes and new ways of calculating merit ratings. This creates an unavoidable transition period in which two systems will exist side by side. But how does this affect students' ability to plan their futures? With our new update, Skoolie makes the transition completely seamless.

The challenge: Two systems create confusion

Over the coming years, students with grades from the old system (GY11) will apply to programmes whose eligibility requirements may be stated in the new one (GY25), and vice versa. This creates a major challenge:

• A student with GY11 grades who wants to apply to university may be met with eligibility requirements expressed as new subject grades. The student then has to try to translate their courses and grades manually, or book time with their guidance counsellor to work out what applies – a time-consuming process.
