Boxholm municipality launches Skoolie in compulsory school
We at Skoolie are happy to announce that Boxholm municipality is now getting started with Skoolie for study and career guidance in compulsory school.
The upper secondary choice starts long before applications open
For many students, the choice of upper secondary school is the first decision whose consequences stretch several years ahead. At the same time, knowledge of what the different programmes actually lead to is unevenly distributed. Students with parents or siblings who have taken a certain path often have a head start in understanding, while others end up forming an impression based on rumours and second-hand information.
Career choice competence is built over time. The earlier a student can place their schooling in a wider context, the more thought-through the choice becomes in ninth grade.
What Boxholm's students get access to
With Skoolie, students can explore upper secondary programmes and specialisations on their own, see what they lead to in terms of careers and further studies, and understand their own situation:
- The merit rating and what it means in practice
- Which programmes the student is currently eligible for
- Broader programme information, including NIU, RIG and elite/specialist education
- The connection between interests, programmes and careers
What the guidance counsellors get
For study and career guidance counsellors, it is just as much about overview and time. Skoolie gathers students' choices, interests and meeting notes in one place, gives an early signal for students at risk of incomplete grades, and puts in-depth programme information directly in the tool instead of spread across a dozen websites.
Skoolie does not make decisions or assessments. The system produces the underlying information – the student and the counsellor make the choices.
Overview for the school principal organiser
At the principal organiser level, Skoolie provides data on how the guidance work is progressing and a basis for systematic quality assurance. This makes guidance the responsibility of the whole school rather than a single profession.
From compulsory school to adult education
Skoolie follows the individual through the entire education chain: compulsory school, upper secondary school and adult education. A municipality that starts in compulsory school can build further as needs grow.
We look forward to the collaboration with Boxholm municipality and to jointly contributing to safer and more well-founded future choices for the municipality's students.
